Epicerie du Monde

I like to pass through the epicerie du monde when I’m at any grocery store and I’m always perplexed at what I see. Apparently this is all America brings to the grocery world:

épicerie américains
épicerie américains

Let’s take it by shelf-by-shelf, shall we?

  • Pancakes/Syrup (Aunt Jemima, to be exact)
  • Pepperidge Farms cookies as far as the eye can see
  • tiny, expensive jars of peanut butter
  • marshmallows
  • popcorn and Snyder’s Pretzels (both in various flavors)
  • microwave popcorn
  • assorted generic brand sauces (BBQ, seafood, cranberry and yellow mustard)
  • Some Canadian brand beverages and crackers
  • French’s Yellow Mustard
  • Frank’s Hot Sauce
  • Oreo icing in a Capri-Sun pack {gag}

Le sigh.

  1. PS- It is always worth noting that Mars Chocolates (Snickers, M&Ms, etc.) and its affiliate brands are well represented in what I call the gen-pop of French shelves. No need to search high and low for REAL Oreos either! Phew!

  2. -is not -os, and for some reason when i write *paris it wants to tag someone I dont know .. weird

  3. Funny – it was in London where I became a ketchup snob, probably for the same reason!
