Pike Place Market Photo Diary

Pike Place Market

Remember when I went to Seattle and spent copious amounts of time hanging around Pike Place Market, taking an obnoxious number of photos? Yea, I was pretty mesmerized by the environment.

It stands to reason; we all know how much I love a good farmers market (one of my all-time favorites is in Arles) and Seattle’s did not disappoint, but I’d be lying if I told you my fascination with the market wasn’t affected, in part, by the glorious gray weather. I hadn’t experienced fog or a fall-like chill in months and apparently I was craving it. The overcast skies made the colors of the neon signs, florals and produce that much more vivid, thus the market was an ideal backdrop for me to go camera crazy.

I could have spent so much more time there (you know, accepting samples from the produce vendors, then feeling guilty and subsequently buying paper bags full of their aforementioned samples…I’m looking at you, tomatoes and pears). I think we passed each market stall and vendor display at least twice on Friday, taking every drop in. I wanted to bring it all home.

Here’s a look at some of my favorite shots:
