Overview
This project is one of which I’m especially proud. I’m not gonna lie. It was BIG. And complex. It involved a full overhaul of a youth sports league’s digital infrastructure, replacing their outdated, manual workflows with a custom-built WordPress plugin and modernized website. The league management plugin was designed from the ground up to handle athlete registrations, volunteer coordination, team assignments and seasonal scheduling… all from a user-friendly front-end dashboard that was tailored to the needs of non-technical users.
Previously, they had been managing hundreds of athletes, volunteers, and team assignments using spreadsheets, emails, and a lot of manual follow-up. By architecting a scalable plugin integrated with WordPress custom post types, meta fields, and Gravity Forms (woot!), we brought everything into a centralized, streamlined system. Role-based dashboards allow admins, parents, and volunteers to securely view and manage only the information relevant to them. The new site allows them to streamline everything with a fully custom WordPress plugin and front-end dashboard experience.
It’s a great example of how thoughtful development can support real-world workflows. The new setup not only looks good, it works hard behind the scenes, is way more efficient and it’s flexible enough to evolve with the organization’s future needs.
