Overview
New year, new website launch! Actually, this site launched a while back, but then all the holidays came and the next thing I know, it’s January.
No matter the time, I was so excited to get my hands on the Calistoga Wine Growers website. I had designed their original site back in 2011 (I think?) when I was still working at a member winery of the CWG. Though it really wasn’t that long ago, the site needed an update that not only served the members better, but also consumers who would use the site to learn about the Calistoga AVA.
I was tasked with creating a clean aesthetic and the design had to incorporate a way to neatly display member information, winery features (open to the public, free wine tastings with purchase, etc.) and also some search capabilities. Combine that with the backend, that allows members to update their own winery/grower profiles, post their winery events and participate in a members’ only forum where they could ask questions of other members and share ideas, and I was knee-deep in code.
But wanna know a secret? I love being knee-deep in code. It’s like a puzzle I have to solve and I’ve always been a fan of puzzles.
So you can understand the fun I had, because it forced me to be even more creative with code and functionality, while making sure that all the clients’ needs were met. Now, if you’re planning a trip up valley, you know where to go for all things Calistoga AVA-related.
