I like to pass through the epicerie du monde when I’m at any grocery store and I’m always perplexed at what I see. Apparently this is all America brings to the grocery world:

Let’s take it by shelf-by-shelf, shall we?
- Pancakes/Syrup (Aunt Jemima, to be exact)
- Pepperidge Farms cookies as far as the eye can see
- tiny, expensive jars of peanut butter
- marshmallows
- popcorn and Snyder’s Pretzels (both in various flavors)
- microwave popcorn
- assorted generic brand sauces (BBQ, seafood, cranberry and yellow mustard)
- Some Canadian brand beverages and crackers
- French’s Yellow Mustard
- Frank’s Hot Sauce
- Oreo icing in a Capri-Sun pack {gag}
Le sigh.
PS- It is always worth noting that Mars Chocolates (Snickers, M&Ms, etc.) and its affiliate brands are well represented in what I call the gen-pop of French shelves. No need to search high and low for REAL Oreos either! Phew!
This one is just a little section within the hypermarket, I bet the Paris version is amazing tho!
Oh! Heinz ketchup is also readily available in gen-pop. I buy it name brand because the off-brand is not very good. Same for mayo…thank goodness for Hellman’s!
I LOVE THAT PLACE!!!!! My friend works at the one in Paros
-is not -os, and for some reason when i write *paris it wants to tag someone I dont know .. weird
Wow, that is a lot of Pepperidge Farm! No Heinz ketchup??
Funny – it was in London where I became a ketchup snob, probably for the same reason!
